Product Recalls

Property adjusters are familiar with losses caused by defective products. While some product defects may be a unique or isolated matter, we are seeing more cases of residential and commercial property damage as a direct result of a defective product. Distinguishing a solid file for recovery can be complicated. When a defective product causes a loss, the manufacturer of the product, the wholesaler, and the distributor may be liable. Therefore, when files such as these arrive and you are wondering who is responsible for the damages the product caused, contact us. We will help you identify claims with subrogation potential, propose a plan to identify the responsible third party, and get your company paid.

Per the CPSC, “this recall involves Honda portable gasoline generators with model numbers EB2800i and EG2800i. The recalled portable generators have a red front cover and a black metal frame…”

  1. Westinghouse Portable Generators Recalled by MWE Investments Due to Fire Hazard

Per the CPSC, “this recall involves Westinghouse portable inverter generators used to power appliances, cell phones or other electronic devices.”

Gree dehumidifiers

Gree recalled 2.5 million dehumidifier units and reissued the recall following 450 fires and $19 million in property damage. Fourteen months after the reissued recall, Keis George has encountered a rapid increase in the number of fires caused by a Gree dehumidifier. Our product liability team has designed a system to efficiently litigate these files through early involvement.
