More and more, we are seeing a significant increase in property damage caused by water and fire as a direct result of a defective product.
Consumer Product Safety Commission Recalls
Our product liability lawyers have experience litigating cases involving hundreds of different products, including industrial machinery, automobiles, and common residential and commercial appliances such as dehumidifiers, sump pumps, space heaters, fire compression systems, and more. Recently, we have effectively litigated product liability matters involving residential and commercial appliances, gas explosions, cellulose insulation, and sprinkler, plumbing and other water losses.
Many firms litigate but few actually litigate a product liability matter to completion. This is why we are trying to work with you to bundle these files to increase the settlement value and decrease your operational costs associated with adjusting each claim. Therefore, we would like to remind you of the following Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalls:
Per the CPSC, the recalled cooktop surface elements on the range can turn on by themselves, posing burn and fire hazards. This recall involves cooktops with a glass cooking surface, touch controls, radiant and downdraft radiant models sold under the Whirlpool, KitchenAid and JennAir brands.
Per the CPSC, electrical receptacles can overheat when in use, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves Garvin Pop-Up Floor Box Kits with a finish of either stainless steel or brushed brass that includes two electrical receptacles and two USB ports. The pop-up electrical outlet boxes are designed to be installed into floors with a metal lid that opens and closes to reveal the electrical receptacles and USB ports.
Per the CPSC, the motor can overheat, creating a fire hazard. This recall involves Porter-Cable brand 10” table saws with model number PCX362010 that were sold exclusively at Lowe’s Stores. The saws have a gray body with black accents and the Porter-Cable logo. The model number and serial number are printed on the table saw’s nameplate, located on the back of the saw body near the bottom.
